Monitronics Adds SkyBell HD as Part of Aggressive Smart-Home Strategy

by Moni Blogger | Apr 05, 2016

April 5, 2016 (DALLAS) – Customers continually ask for smart-home devices that are practical and easy to use, and that make their lives easier every day. That’s why Monitronics Security is now offering SkyBell HD, a huge step forward in a field of “smart” doorbells that is rapidly growing in popularity.

The SkyBell HD video doorbell is now available through Monitronics’ authorized network of more than 600 dealers. Monitronics representatives will be talking about SkyBell and other initiatives during ISC West, April 6-8 in Las Vegas (Booth #22031).

Peter Tonti, Vice President of Product Management for Monitronics, said SkyBell HD is just the first step in a “product roadmap” that will dramatically expand the company’s selection of the latest smart home technology in the near future.

“We’re taking an aggressively proactive stance in offering products and services that will let us compete with companies both inside and outside of our industry,” Tonti said. “We’re carefully considering which products we want to offer, and SkyBell represents the type of technology that our customers will respond to.”

Connected to a home Wi-Fi network, SkyBell HD provides a secure way to answer the door using a smartphone or tablet without compromising safety, and also manages video calls sent to authorized mobile devices. With rugged construction built to withstand extreme temperatures and heavy weather, SkyBell HD provides remote monitoring with two-way voice, 180-degree 5x zoom high-definition video and color night vision. It immediately records each visitor at the door, whether they have pushed the doorbell or not. Video recordings are saved to the user’s free cloud account and are available to download to any mobile devices on the SkyBell account.

It also offers easy integration with established platforms like Total Connect, Alarm.com and Icontrol, as well as emerging standards like Nest and Amazon Echo.

“Every product we offer should answer a specific need in a customer’s life,” Tonti said. “Since virtually every home has a doorbell, it’s easy to imagine SkyBell’s impact.”

Other new products in the Monitronics lineup include:

  • The Linear Z-Wave Smart Garage Controller, which controls any sectional garage door through a Z-Wave certified gateway or security panel. It ships with a wireless tilt sensor that attaches to the inside of the garage door which reports “open” or “closed” status.
  • The 2GIG GoControl3, which offers a large intuitive touchscreen, one-touch arming, five-day weather forecast, and the thinnest profile on the market.
  • Qolsys IQ Panel and DSC Touch, an all-in-one IQ Panel platform that includes cellular, Wi-Fi, Z-Wave and 319.5 security communications.  Other features include a 7-inch touchscreen, built-in camera, dual path connectivity, cloud upgradability, Alarm.com services and critical components including siren, 24-hour battery and two-way voice.
  • The DSC Power Series Neo, an exceptionally flexible platform that works with a wide range of PowerG-enabled wireless devices. It’s scalable to offer innovative alarm verification solutions, including visual, audio and sequential verification.
